Thermography or infrared inspection is a method of non-destructive testing based on sensing the heat that is emitted from the surface of an object. The equipment converts the thermal radiation to a temperature shown on the thermal image. The amount of heat shown is relative to the amount of current flowing in the system and the resistance of the electrical systems components and connections. Corrections can be made to items shown as defective during a scheduled outage rather than an unexpected shutdown due to equipment failure.
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE & TESTING:
Thermography or infrared inspection (see inset box)
Power Analysis: Power anomalies such as voltage drop, frequency fluctuations and momentary power loss can cause equipment malfunctions and sudden equipment stoppage. Installing an analyzer to record these events can help pinpoint a solution.
Preventative Maintenance: Cleaning, Exercising, lubricating and inspection of switchgear can extend the life of the equipment as well as reveal problems that can be corrected while the system is deenergized.
Fire Alarm & Life Safety Testing: According to NFPA 72 the majority of the fire alarm components are required to be tested annually. Denier will test the devices and batteries to ensure proper operation and submit a report of passing and any failing components.
